reiki explained
What is reiki?
Pronounced “RAY KEE”, this Japanese word translates to “universal life force energy”. Our human bodies are the vessels for this energy. When everyday stressors or chronic illness impede the flow of those healthy energies, Reiki can assist in removing the blockages, allowing them to flow freely again. When that balance is restored, our bodies are better able to heal themselves.
By setting a clear intention and being open to receive whatever you need most from the session, you become an active participant in your own healing. Your Reiki practitioner is the facilitator for the healing energy, an open channel, there to allow the energy to flow where it is most needed.
What can i expect?
Many of your questions, preferences and boundaries will be discussed in a short phone call or email exchange prior to our meeting. This way, our time together can be devoted entirely to your relaxation and well-being.
Where do we begin?
You will be asked to set a clear intention for your session, making you an active participant in your own healing. A warm, comfortable table is provided for you to lie on for the duration of our time together. If lying down is not optimal, the session can also be done in a comfortable, seated position. All clients remain fully clothed and any other preferences such as hands-on or off healing, use of music or crystals, are confirmed before beginning.
What’s the process?
Unless you prefer a seated position, your session will begin lying down, face up. Most clients choose to close their eyes as it removes distractions and allows for a more relaxed state. The practitioner then begins the session at your head, moving to various positions at the shoulders, arms, abdomen, legs, the back body and finally the feet.
How does it feel?
Reiki is a uniquely personal experience. Some recipients feel deep relaxation, sometimes falling asleep. Others may feel warmth, tingling, pressure, vibrations. Unexpected emotions may arise as well. Every sensation, emotion and experience is welcomed and supported.
